My Plays.tv client still in this screen "checking games"
Have you checked your firewall/antivirus to ensure it might not be blocking access?

I also have a problem with this. Plays.tv opens, says 'checking games' then closes.
Have checked my firewall/antivirus, have also tried running with Administrator privileges, to no affect.
Last recording was on 8/8/2016 - leads me to believe a recent Windows 10 update has caused an issue?
It is possible. Have you tried reinstalling Plays.tv and/or your video drivers?
